Welsh ponies are popular in England as children's mounts for fox hunting.  In the U.S., they are also used for driving and make excellent show hunters and dressage ponies.  Stopek Stables has a passion for ponies!  We have carefully chosen Welsh ponies that have beautifully chiseled heads, uphill conformation, and springy, elastic movement.  They are very willing and able to jump (even over fences that are so high they would be easier for them to go under instead of over)!   Meanwhile, we are continually amused by their playful dispositions.  For example:  Bachelors Button amuses himself by removing fly masks from the other horses. (He's a whiz with Velcro!)  He also likes to put foreign objects in his water bucket to see if they will sink or float!  We enjoy many happy moments with our ponies!  Good things do come in small packages!

Introducing.....

1999 Section A Welsh Pony Stallion

"Buck" has a charming disposition.  He loves kids and was ridden by a 7 year old girl at his previous home.  He is easy to handle and fun to ride.  Buck loves to jump and has a tremendous bascule (pictured above).  He is only 12.1 hh, making him a great cross on larger mares to produce Large ponies.  All of Buck's foals are eligible for registration with the Welsh Pony and Cob Society of America either as purebred or Half-Welsh (depending upon your mare).  For more information, visit Buck's page.

Bachelors Button is a 2000 Section A Welsh gelding owned and trained by Heather Huntoon. Also known as "Squirt", he is adorable and quite a little comedian.  He is always showing us his newest trick!  It might be jumping a 3'6" fence or lunging himself around the arena while carrying a dressage whip in his mouth. He is irresistibly handsome with a flaxen mane and tail, bald face and four tall socks.  He even has a couple of belly splashes.  Squirt shows real potential as a dressage pony as his movement is outstanding and he'll take your breath away as he flies over fences taller than himself.  He's happy to keep going as long as he has an audience!  Squirt is broke to ride and drive.

Currently being used as a school horse at Stopek Stables, "Jewel" can be ridden by beginner through advanced students.  She has never been lame or sick and is a very easy keeper.  She loads, trailers, clips, bathes, stands for farrier and vet, etc.  Jewel has been ridden and shown both English and Western.  She has jumped, foxhunted, and been trail ridden.  She is eligible for double registration as a Palomino.  She is 8 years old and stands 13.3 hands high, making her large enough for most adults and a very comfortable size for children.  Perfect for 4-H or a serious Palomino or AQHA circuit Youth horse.  Jewel shows perfect form over fences and could easily be promoted as a Large Hunter Pony.

This dainty black and white tobiano registered Shetland pony mare is a proven color producer.  She is in foal to a black and white tobiano Shetland stallion for a 2008 foal.

"Pat" is a 37" 2003 bay tobiano miniature gelding.  He is owned by Hailee Huntoon, but she will share him with other small people (at least until she is old enough to ride him all by herself!)  She is pictured here at 6 months old with Pat and her mommy (and trainer) Heather Huntoon.  Giddy Up, Pat!

Sherbet's Penny is a 1997 12.1H Section A Welsh mare. She is a beautiful copper chestnut with a stripe on her petite little face   Penny loves people and is quick to greet visitors to our farm. She is green broke to ride and drive and gave birth to a chestnut Trakehner cross colt (Little Rascal, below) on 5-22-02.

SOLD to Kristen Ackerman and daughter of Lino Lakes, MN.

Little Rascal was born 5-22-02.  He is a Trakehner/Welsh cross and should mature to a large pony.  He has 3 tall socks up to his knees and a blaze.  His conformation and movement are that of a Warmblood in miniature!  He will be a fancy show pony for dressage, hunters, or driving.  Rascal has been started under saddle.  More photos on "Foals" page.

SOLD!  Rascal will be shown in Hunters in his new home in New York.  Congratulations Melanie G. and daughter!!  We wish you much success!

Sherbet's Taylor is a 1999 12.2H Section A Welsh mare.  Taylor has the conformation and movement of a miniature Warmblood with the disposition of a kitten.  Her chestnut color makes a striking contrast with her blond mane and tail and she has the prettiest head we've ever seen on a pony!

SOLD to Lindsay Haugen of Pferden Farm in MN.

Tiara is a 2004 13.3 hh chestnut pony with 2 tall socks behind and a big triangle on her pretty face.  She is very feminine and has a darling, quiet disposition that is perfect for children to be around.  Tiara is in training to be a Large Hunter Pony.  SOLD!  Congratulations to Jessica Kramer and the whole Kramer family on the purchase of Tiara.  I am so happy that Tiara found a wonderful family to love and care for her!

Lark is a 2003 dark bay filly by Lapis Lazuli (Trakehner) and out of Silverweed, our American Trakehner Association approved Thoroughbred mare.  Lark is extremely athletic and talented and very friendly.  She is a beautiful mover and  an outstanding Large Pony Hunter prospect as she measures a petite 14 hands as a 3 year old.  She has ideal conformation and would make an excellent Pony Hunter Breeding prospect as well (Her half brother, Sweet William, won first place in Hunter Breeding Two Year Olds at the Ohio Prof.  Horseman's Assoc. Hunter Jumper Show).  Lark is a granddaughter of both of the ATA approved stallions Graditz E* and Hailo Pg* E*.  Hailo is an FEI competitor, the most successful dressage horse for the ATA in 2003, and ranked 15th out of over 1300 stallions for producing performance horses by USEF.  Her registration is pending with the American Trakehner Association and she is eligible for the ATA futurities.  Lark will begin training under saddle in the spring of 2006 and her price will increase accordingly.  SOLD.
